- column5:New Approaches for Improvement of Internship Program
Since the 2013 academic year, IPU-E map (assessment document of student’s employability) has started to put into effect officially in the Faculty of Software and Information Science, Faculty of Policy Studies, and at Morioka Junior College. While making use of the “Project for the enhancement and improvement of the education system to meet the industry needs” adopted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, we were able to improve and strengthen the internship program, expand employment supporters system, and promote the IPU-E project. Besides making efforts to support the development of students’employability, we promote employment within Iwate prefecture and emphasize preparation of the civil service examination.

As a “Project for the enhancement and improvement of the education system to meet the needs of industry” adopted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the internship business was processed by the member of 6 universities which are Iwate Prefectural University, Morioka Junior College, Yamagata University, Aizu University, Sakura no seibo Junior College, and Morioka University. Iwate Prefectural University plays a central role in the business.
The main purpose of the business is to promote mutual participation within the internship system. For instance, it was inconvenient in years past when our student who was from Yamagata prefecture wanted to find the internship program in Yamagata since we did not have enough information of companies in Yamagata, so only we could do for the student was to give some advice to find the opportunity privatery. This problem was commonly shared with the student of Yamagata University who is from Iwate.
In an approach for this time, we promote discussion for communization of various documents exchanging between students and companies, and development and sharing of the study program before and after internship and management know-how in addition to disclosure of data of accepting companies within the universities as noted above and share it each other. Furthermore, the information provided to students in the beginning of the internship is expected to be the system which allows them to more proactively participate in such as about the timing of joining the program, what kind of capability one can grow, and the problems the companies have.
For the actual application, it would be proceeded so that both students and companies can get merits while decreasing the liability of companies arising from the program as much as possible. Even it is only two years business in 2014 and 2015 as the project assisted by government, we wish it will be the project that many universities located in Tohoku area can join and the U-turn employment in each area will be more promoted.
