Community Contribution in Academic Year 2007

Contribution for the local area: Furtherance of Exchanges with the People of Iwate Through Education Programs for Working Adults, etc.

Iwate Prefectural University hopes to contribute to the community by making use of its intellectual property, through efforts such as cooperating with local authorities, holding open lectures, and promoting open research on community issues.

Joint Efforts with Local Authorities Under Cooperation Agreement

In academic year 2007, the university made new cooperation agreements with Morioka City and Kawai Village. With Morioka City, the Morioka City Community Planning Institute was established, to study the present state and issues of community planning.

Featured Topic 2 Enlarging the Network with the Community:  Open Research on Community Issues

To make use of Iwate Prefectural University's researches for the benefit of the community, the school invites the community to submit research topic ideas, as “open research on community issues.”  By promoting cooperation and joint research with businesses, organizations, and local authorities, on a variety of issues such as community planning, IT, and social welfare, we aim to return the benefits of our researches to the community.

Featured Topic 3 Aiming for the Integration of Tradition and Digital Technology

One of the research on community issues is the "Research on Content-Creating Skills for Keeping Local Performing Arts Alive."  In this research, data on various techniques of traditional arts are collected and analyzed, so that the information gained can be used for the instruction of the techniques.  The research is gaining attention as an effort that contributes to the preservation of local traditions, with human sensations and digital data complementing each other.
