This major is designed to give students the practical skills appropriate to a twenty-first century already dubbed the "environmental century." The two primary divisions within the major are clothing and home studies. The former is for those who would like to learn more deeply about the place of clothing in our lives. In home studies, houses and living spaces are examined with a scientific eye. But most of all there is the chance to broaden, deepen, and expand your own interests.
The road to a career as
a nutritionist or dietician begins with the acquisition of
a broad knowledge base in the field of food. Subjects in
the major include social life and health, the body’s
structure and functions, food hygiene, nutrition and nutritional
counseling, and guidance on school lunches. Expect a variety
of experiments and practica to stimulate and encourage your
desire to learn.

This is the place to acquire strength and balance of hear and intellect, and the strength of will to aply them. The course of study wil focus on the different histories and cultures of Europe, the Americas, Japan, and Iwate, and examine the contrasing ways in which each society is forumlated. This will lead to a better grasp of the diverstiy present in today's international community. Of course, in pursuit of better communication with the people of the world, practical foreign language training is essential. Seminars provide chances to visit the United States and Korea, where your world view will expend as you experience these new cultures.
