The first two years of the graduate program (the master's program), started in 2002, are intended to educate nursing research professionals who have advanced knowledge and skills for nursing practice as well as clinical research abilities. Students are encouraged to find research questions in their practice, and are required to design and complete a master's thesis. The graduates of this program are expected to assume leadership in providing and managing quality and innovative services in a variety of health care settings. A CNS course in pediatric nursing was accredited in Apr. 2006.
The final three years of the graduate program (the doctoral program) provide more advanced research and education. This prepares nurses to perform independent research activities which contribute to the development of nursing knowledge. Also, they will be able to apply research results to practice in order to improve and enrich patient care and to make recommendations using the outcomes. In this way, they will promote the improvement of health services by being nursing specialists with connections across disciplines.
